Robert Herrick (1591-1674) wrote extraordinarily accomplished poetry in the classical tradition. Most students will know his "To the Virgins to make much of Time." His poems are published in Hesperides: Or, The Works Both Humane & Divine (1648).

Unlike Milton, Herrick was a Royalist during the Civil War. His poems seem to have enjoyed some celebrity in those circles.
