Notes for users

To users of the web or CD version of Wisenis X̅aʼislak̕ala (Haisla Lessons 1 - 10):

Yawc̓!

Clicking on underlined words and sentences will bring up sound files.

The files are meant to be opened with a webbrowser, either from a CD or on the internet. I recommend Firefox, which is available free on the internet. Windows' Internet Explorer seems to work OK as well, as I have set it up. In either case, you may have to play around a bit with the settings for an audio player to bring up the sound files and close them correctly. In Firefox you go to Tools > Options > Applications to set the defaults. I use Windows Media Player. You can set it to have a very small footprint (View > Skin Mode). If you have problems with fonts showing correctly you may need to change settings here too. My default font is Lucida sans Unicode, which gets all the special letters right.

If you have problems write me at ebach@linguist.umass.edu.
