I am a Ph.D. candidate in the philosophy department at UMass, Amherst. I have been in graduate school for what seems like a very long time.
I work on Ancient Greek philosophy, with a focus on Sextus Empiricus and Pyrrhonian Scepticism. I enjoy teaching Plato and Aristotle, though I haven't done much mature writing on either philosopher.
I am originally from Athens, GA, though I have been living in New England since 2001. I did my undergraduate work at UGA, where I was heavily influenced by Edward Halper. I went on to do my MA at UConn, where I worked with Donald Baxter on Leibniz, and first developed my interest in Hellenistic philosophy. My dissertation, on Sextus' treatment of the criterion of truth, is being supervised by Richard Bett, Eileen O'Neill (chair), Hilary Kornblith, and Marios Philippides.
Above are some of the many things that keep me from working on my dissertation.
