WiG Newsletter Reviews of the Impromptu Cabaret 1987:

The 1987 Cabaret varied in form from the previous years in that there were only two characters in an extended "interview" and "reading" featuring the Turkish-German writer "Esel Wottading" (Anna Kuhn) and moderated by Heidrun Sure (Susan Cocalis). Our real guest, Aysel Oezakin, never materialized that evening despite the heroic efforts of the DAAD and Heidrun Suhr, so we took over the Saturday evening slot so as not to disappoint the conference attendees. "Esel Wottading," who just happened to be travelling in the U.S. at the time, rearranged her busy schedule to visit us at WIG. Her published works included: In California wird man wieder jung (1982), Zart erhob er sich bis sie flog (1986), and Die Preisgabe (1982). Esel was in rare form in this reading but, alas, there is no transcription of this interview.
