Talks and events:

I hope The Next Upsurge contributes to a growing discussion on the future of the labor movement and its relationship to other movements, so I’m eager to talk about the book and the issues it deals with. I’m not looking to make money, but do need to cover my expenses.

Events could be focused on my talking about some part of the book, or be larger discussions-debates about the labor movement. I’m especially eager to talk to labor audiences.

To find out about arranging a talk, email (clawson@sadri.umass.edu) or call (413-545-5974) me. In fall 2003 I will have a flexible schedule; Tuesdays I generally need to be in Massachusetts, but most other days are possible.

Scheduled events:

August 16-19 Atlanta, American Sociological Association

Sept 12-14 Detroit, Labor Notes Convention

Sept 17 Boston, Jamaica Plain: 3483 Washington St., Jamaica Plain, Doyle's Cafe Book Party (sponsored by Jobs with Justice)

October 28 Santa Barbara, California

October 29 Berkeley, California (with Steve Lerner, Kate Bronfenbrenner, Jane Slaughter)

October 30, Los Angeles UCLA Downtown Labor Center, lunchtime (with same people)

October 30, UCLA main campus, late afternoon (with same people)

February 27, 2004, Stony Brook, New York (with Michael Burawoy and Mike Davis)
