NATIONAL RESEARCH

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY Teachers College ( New York City, New York)
Schools of Education National Research Project, funded by Annenberg, Ford, and Kaufman Foundations. This research is a comprehensive study of schools, colleges, and departments of education in the United States.  Professor Seldin was selected to serve on many Site Visit Teams.

The goal of the national study, as stated by Dr. Arthur Levine, Former President of Teachers College, Columbia University, is to “cut through all the rhetoric and criticism about schools of education and to look at the underlying reality. We plan to describe education schools, to look at what they do well, to discuss what they could do better, and, where useful, to make recommendations for future directions.”

This multi-year research has produced three major reports that provide both an assessment of current practices and clear and informed recommendations.

NATIONAL STUDY ON OFF-CAMPUS INSERVICE ACTIVITIES: Four Year Perspective
This research, directed by Professor Seldin, contrasted findings to a previous study focusing on how schools of education in the United States support and manage their off-campus programs.
