KDP promotes excellence in, and recognition of, outstanding contributions to education. Membership is limited to those who, "exhibit commendable personal qualities, worthy educational ideals, and sound scholarship." KDP is one of the largest and most prestigious educational honor societies in the United States.
If you are an undergraduate student seeking a minor in education or a graduate student with a commitment to Education, consider the criteria below and apply for membership in the UMass chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. We look forward to meeting you!
Criteria for Acceptance: Undergraduate
- Minimum of 45 completed semester hours
- At least 12 of these credits hours must be at UMass
- Commitment to the field of Education
- Minimum 3.4 Grade Point Average
Criteria for Acceptance: Graduate
- Minimum of 12 semester hours
- Commitment to the field of Education
- Minimum 3.4 Grade Point Average
TO APPLY

Write a letter of application in which you describe the qualities you bring to the Honor Society and the reasons why you have decided to pursue education.

Include a letter of recommendation from a University faculty member or professional staff, or from a professional in education (teacher, school principal or department chair, camp director).

Include a copy of your Final Grade Report from your last semester completed at UMass. A student copy is acceptable.

This special event was held at the UMass Campus Center and attended by students and their families, many UMass faculty, University Without Walls administrators, and School of Education Dean Christine B. McCormick, Associate Dean Linda Griffin, Assistant Dean Marge Magouirk-Colbert, and Licensure Officer Kim Drake.
We were delighted to honor Jason Grochowalski as the 2008 recipient of the Winifred Green Scholarship.
Dr. Claire E. Hamilton, Associate Professor, Early Childhood Education, was our outstanding keynote speaker. |
