Data Quality Vetos in LIGO S5 Searches for Gravitational Wave Transients Laura Cadonati for the LIGO Scientific Collaboration The first year of the LIGO S5 run has seen intense activity in the LSC Detector Characterization team to assess the quality of the data and flag features that could affect astrophysical searches. The Glitch group is part of this effort, a venue for instrument experts and data analysts to collaborate in the identification of noise transients. This talk will describe some of the tools used in this quest and which data quality flags have been identified and used to veto loud noise transients in the S5 burst and inspiral searches. Particular attention will be given to existing and planned veto conditions for transients that simultaneously appear in the co-located Hanford interferometers.
