All-sky searches for gravitational wave transients

This talk describes the all sky search for gravitational wave transients 
(bursts) in interferometric detectors, with an overview of the challenges, 
the methods, the performance in LIGO data and prospects for the next 
LIGO-Virgo joint science run.
