My colleague Jon Olsen and I are developing, in collaboration with National Soccer Hall of Fame, a digital humanities project dedicated to the preservation, collection and publication of soccer history in the United States.  The website will encourage research and teaching by using soccer as a lens for examining aspects of American and global life including immigration, industrialization and gender equality. One of the site’s innovations is to combine the work of amateur and professional historians thereby obtaining the advantages of incorporating user-generated content alongside guided interpretation and presentation by professional historians. We hope to launch the site in the spring of 2010.
