Why are unaccusatives a potential counterexample to this restriction? How does the Unaccusative Hypothesis help? b. Present a structure for resultative constructions. You can present an updated version of the structure(s) explored in the reading or something different. Whichever structure you present, make sure that your structure is able to address the concerns discussed in Section 2.2.1. c. How do Levin and Rappaport-Hovav handle the DOR? d. Compare the structure that you have proposed in (b) with the structure proposed in Embick (2004). Discuss the empirical and theoretical motivations for and against the two structures.
