Since 1991, Children’s Hunger Fund has been serving children in need across America and around the world.  Over the past 16 years, CHF has distributed more than $700 million in aid, bringing hope to children in more than 70 countries worldwide.  In 2005, CHF worked domestically to assist thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims.  In a recent Forbes magazine guide that rated the efficiency of U.S. charities, CHF was the only organization to receive a 100 percent efficiency rating in all three of Forbes' categories. More than 99 percent of all revenue goes directly to the care of needy children.  Every life is precious, and every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. CHF works to help children become all that they were created to be.

The FINAL "ANDY UPDATE:" HE'S DONE!!!! On Thursday May 28th, exactly 90 days after departing from Springer Mt. in Georgia, Andy 'Leap' McCarron completed the 2200 mile Appalachian Trail at Mt. Katahdin in Maine. While he is still suffering a bit from sore flat feet, he claims he "feels good, and is excited for the upcoming bike trip!!"

Everyone (especially Jon) is so very proud of his accomplishments, and commend him not only on his AT completion, but of the daunting task of following that up with a 3500 mile bike ride! Few people (perhaps none) in this world would attempt, nor would they be able to complete, what Andy will have done in a 5 month time span. That's why they call him the Hammer.....

5/22/2008

Another "ANDY UPDATE"- Andy passed into the great state of Maine (the last of his journey!), last Thursday. Though his has now been in the last state for a full week, the last stretch is "not easy" to say the least! Andy anticipates that he will be finishing the hike sometime between May 28th and May 30th, at the peak of Mt. Katadin. He continues to express his excitement for the bike trip. As he says, at least on the road, we won't have to trek thru 3 feet of snow! (as he had to do thru most of New Hampshire earlier this month!). Before leaving on the 14th, though, he does look forward to 2 full weeks of 'sitting on the couch and doing nothing!'

5/1/2008

Another "ANDY UPDATE"- Today Andy hiked Mt. Greylock- the highest peak in Massachusetts! I cannot (either) believe that he is now travelling thru our home state, and is well on his way to finish his 2,000mi+ hike in under 90 days!!!! Andy continues to tell us that he is excited for the bike trip, and wants to extend his thanks to everyone's support thus far on our charity campaign.

4/21/2008

Another "ANDY UPDATE"- after speaking with Andy on Saturday night (4/19), he was just completing the hike thru Pennsylvania, and was moving on to New Jersey. He is still ahead of pace (believe it or not), and treking' nearly 25 miles/day! (with many days closer to 30!). He has met many "trail angels" along his way (local day hikers who are gracious enough to share food with him!), and tells me he is "excited for our bike trip." (which I could not be happier to hear!) Keep praying for warm weather to melt that VT,NH, and ME mountain snow!

4/10/2008

An "ANDY UPDATE:" Andy is now approximately HALF WAY through his hike of the Appalachian Trail. He has covered over 1,000 miles in 45 days, and looks to complete the entire 2000+ hike in his estimated 90 days!!! (arriving at Mt. Katahdin in Maine by June 1st, should all go to plan!). While we've only gotten a few updates from him over the last month and a half, he does want you all to know how appreciative he is of all your charitable efforts!
