Welcome to my home page! I am an assistant professor of Hispanic Linguistics in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I work with Second Language Acquisition, Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning (ICALL), and Syntax. I recently started a project with bilingual speakers of native Brazilian languages, and I have been very interested in exploring possible interfaces between language acquisition, bilingual education and native language documentation and maintenance. For more information about my research projects visit my research page. I am currently the Spanish and Portuguese graduate program director and the Portuguese language program coordinator.

The Linguistics Department at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the UMass Language Acquisition Research Center (LARC) are organizing a conference on Recursion in Brazilian Languages in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. Check the conference web site for more information about the program.
