The files presented here were made for various purposes, chiefly for playing with friends, in part as experiments. They may be useful to others. As I have time to make fair copies, I hope to add more to the small number of texts currently completed. Apart from the exception noted below, they are scores, from which individual parts can then be generated using Sibelius.
All the editions used are, as far as I can establish, out of copyright, as a consequence either of the date of publication or of the relevant period of time since the death of the composer or editor.
Each text is accompanied by some kind of introduction to the form of the edition. The text of the Brahms string quartets is complicated by the need to reproduce the 2/4 against the 6/8 time signatures in the first movement and, above all, for the repercussions on the formatting of the subterfuges required in Sibelius to simulate that kind of mixture. For this reason, I have provided distinct instrumental parts in addition to the score for the first movement. I have also retained the score in its Sibelius 4 format, because I was not sure what effect the later innovations in the programme would have on the format. Otherwise, the files are mainly in Sibelius 5 or 6 formats.
As usual, I welcome corrections and comments.
