Special Account Request (form)

Note: This course request function is for instructors only!

In order to request a special WebCT account you must fill out the form below. Please note that filling out this form doesn't automatically generate a guest account. The form will be evaluated once you have submitted it. We will then send you an e-mail, usually in a few days time, giving you more information on the next steps. The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address below, so make sure that it is correctly spelled. If you have questions on form email webct@oit.umass.edu.

This form has two parts: (a) provide information for the course that you wish to request special access for; (b) provide information about the individual(s) that you wish to create a special account. Note: If you do not have all of the information at this time, fill in what you do have and submit. We will follow up with you for information as necessary.

Special Account Information

Note: Shared designers, TA's and Visitors are established by the WebCT administrator at the request of the course instructor/designer. Please choose which type of account is needed (the level of access differs between types of accounts):

  1. Shared Designer
Privileges: There is only one Primary Designer per course, however a Shared Designer access level grants the the user with the same course design privileges and access to students' records.
Restrictions: Because a Designer's user information is not added to the WebCT Gradebook, any quizzes that you take, in your course, as a designer, will not be graded; you cannot make submissions to assignments in your course; and if you create a MyGrades tool, you will not be able to access your grades.
  2. TA
Privileges: A WebCT TA has full access to the all of the student records in a course. If a WebCT Gradebook has a column that holds the students' tutorial information, the TAs can easily organize their Student Records page so that only their students are shown.
Restrictions: TA's do not have access to any of the design functions of a course. Also, like the primary designer and other designers, WebCT TA's only have partial use of the Evaluation Tools.
  3. Visitor
A Visitor has the equivalent of student access. They do not have any of the privileges of designers or TA's and are generally issued to guest speakers, colleagues, or other appropriate individuals. These accounts are not issued for an entire semester's access, but rather for a limited period of time.
