Brief Bios
Basole, Amit holds a PhD in Neuroscience
from Duke University (Durham, NC) and is currently Researching
Political Economy at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst. His interests include Eurocentrism, Indigenous
Knowledge Systems, Philosophy of Science, Non-violent
Economics, and Critiques of Industrial Modernity.
Bauwens, Michel has played a major
role in the Digital Revolution of his home country Belgium,
where he is known as an Internet Pioneer. He created
two dot.com companies, was (eBusiness) Strategic Director
for theTelecommunications Company Belgacom, and ‘European
Manager of Thought Leadership’ for the U.S. Webconsultancy
MarchFIRST. He co-produced the 3-hour TV Documentary ‘TechnoCalyps:
The Metaphysics of Technology and the End of Man’,
and Co-edited two French-language books on the ‘Anthropology
of Digital Society’, and was Editor in Chief of
the Flemish Digital Magazine Wave. He now lives in Chiang
Mai, Thailand, where he created the Foundation for P2P
Alternatives (P2PFoundation.Net). He taught the Anthropology
of Digital Society for Post-Graduate Students at ICHEC/St.
Louis in Brussels, Belgium , and related Courses at Payap
University and Chiang Mai University in Thailand.
Das, Suparna is currently doing her PhD in Urbanization
and migration patterns of India, in the Department of
Geography, University of Utah, Salt Lake City. She has
a Bachelors degree in Geography from Calcutta University
and a Masters from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
She is an avid reader. She has also taught in a school
and in a private management institute in Kolkata, India
for about two years. Her interests include rural and
urban developmental issues in developing countries.
Hawkins, Katherine is
deeply involved in Social, Philanthropic and Educational
labors in Salt Lake City; Currently serving as: Research
Associate in the field of Child Development and Human
Relations; President, Charity Title Insurance Agency
Inc.; Chairman of the Board and President, Second Chair
Foundation; Managing Member, Family Light House LLC;
Boards and Community commitments include: AIFL, Utah
Foster Care Foundation; LDS Social Services; Genesis – LDS
support branch, Families for African American Awareness,
Adoption Exchange, Christmas Box House International,
Days of ’47
Youth Festival.
Kaboub, Fadhel teaches Economics at Drew University
(Madison, NJ), he holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics
from the University of Economics and Management of Tunis
(Tunisia). He did his Graduate Studies in Economics (M.A./Ph.D.)
at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. His recent
work focuses on Full Employment Policies in Developing
Nations. He has published in several Encyclopedias and
Refereed Journals. Before joining Drew University, he
taught at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Simon’s
Rock College of Bard College, and Denison University.
Kanth, Rajani
Kannepalli is a Professor
of Political Economy and Social Anthropology. His current
interests
are in Globalisation, Ecology, Women’s Issues,
Peace Studies and Philosophy. He has served Major Universities
across the globe and has been an Advisor to the United
Nations. He is also involved in Film, Art, Literature
and Media. His newest book is titled Against Eurocentrism,
NY:Palgrave, Macmillan, 2005. He lives in Salt Lake
City, Utah. Prof. Kanth is currently a Visiting Fellow
at Harvard University.
Kho, Tung-Yi is a Singapore citizen who has lived in
Asia, Australia, Europe and the United States. He is
currently a Researcher in Sociology at the University
of Oregon. His interests encompass Global Political Economy,
Feminist, and Environmental Issues. A keen and accomplished
sportsperson, he has represented Singapore in the Davis
Cup.
